ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector Customer Reviews
ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector Reviews Compare to Max 360
This Radar detector is reported to have identical performance to the Max 360. To learn about it, you can watch tons of video reviews on other sites. Basically its got solid performance equal or better than the Valentine V1.
The key to the detector is the arrows. Once you use the arrows, it’s hard to go back to a detector that does not show you the direction of the threat.
It also has GPS to lock out false signals from stores and other stationary nonpolice signals.
GPS also gives you your current speed and if you are connected to WiFi or the escort live app via Bluetooth, it gives you the current posted speed limit on the road.
It will not know if there is a reduced speed zone for construction or road hazards. It will tell you if you are over the speed limit (you can set it to be right at the speed limit or warn you when you are a little above it).
Here are the differences between this ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector and the regular MAX 360
WiFi:
This is the main addition to the detector. If you have a WiFi connection as part of your car, you can connect this to your car and it will always be connected to escort live without you having to open an app.
It will also prompt you for updates when an update is present. It can update both the defender database and firmware over wifi. It will not just automatically do it. It will ask you first so that it won’t make you miss threats.
Since it will be connected to live, it will do all the things live does, alerts from other drivers, reporting threats to the cloud etc.
It still has Bluetooth so it can still connect that way if you don’t have WiFi in your car or a hotspot or tethering for that matter.
Screen:
Both have an OLED screen and both are the same size. The one on the MAX 360C is slightly brighter and uses a different font. The border around the speed limit and your speed has also been removed on the C so the numbers are bigger.
Arrows:
The arrows are now around the perimeter of the detector and larger. They are now easier to see and stand out more.
Size:
The C is much smaller and does not take up as much room on your windshield as the MAX 360 did.
Sound:
The sound has not changed on the C but seems just a hair quieter to me at full volume.
Mount:
This now uses a fully magnetic mount on the sticky cup. It is the same sticky cup but with a magnet and not a blade. The magnets look like they are a part of the sticky cup and not the detector. I have not checked to see if the detector has magnets but I know the mount does.
Buttons:
The buttons are in different locations and have a more solid feel. The mute button is in the middle of the front row now instead of on the right side.
Case:
The case no longer has holes except for the speaker holes at the bottom.
Power cord:
The power cord included is the one with the USB port so you can slow charge another device.
Price:
MSRP is $699 vs MSRP of $649 for the MAX 360. MAX 360 is cheaper online than $649 making the current price difference larger.
I sold my 360 to get this and I am happy with my choice.
This is the BEST OVERALL Radar Detector Today
I’ll give you the short version: if you’re looking for the best overall radar detector out there today, this is it, hands down. The ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector
You’re getting built-in wifi which makes this thing work incredibly well alongside connected cars, nicely visible arrows for 360-degree threat detection (and they’re spaced apart, so I can identify where the threat is coming from out of the corner of my eye without even looking at the detector),
Escort’s top-notch auto-learn technology which is head and shoulders above the competition, IVT filtering which works great, one of the strongest & most reliable mounts I’ve ever used (with easy magnetic detachment and nothing to break).
Escort Live App connection for crowdsourcing your police/speed trap/accident alerts (it’s free the first year, after that $49, but for me, $49 is .more than worth it).
This thing is honestly so quiet, when I get an alert I KNOW it’s real. And it detects so far in advance, almost always miles, that if you haven’t slowed down by the time you reach a police officer you honestly deserve the ticket.
I’ve compared this to the ESCORT MAX360, the Uniden R7, and the Valentine V1, each of which I lived & drove with for 4 full weeks of evaluation.
First of all, sorry to say it, but the V1 is garbage compared to any of the other three. Now that other companies have arrows it’s just a noisy, behind-the-times, overpriced detector.
Completely unconnected and falses so much you might as well just drive the speed limit perpetually.
It still has a good range, but even that has fallen behind the times. I see no reason to buy this detector other than nostalgia.
It was great in its day, the best even, but it’s been far surpassed. Sorry V1 lovers.
Next, the ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector is a very nice piece of kit, and cheaper to boot! Detection-range-wise I would rate it very close to the 360c, perhaps a little less range, but I might be wrong about that.
But there’s no wifi, and its arrows are rather small and all located on the right side which generally forces you to take your eye off the road and stare at the detector to see where the threat is coming from.
Slightly different mount, but still magnet-based, so easy to remove your detector quickly and almost impossible to break.
Overall it’s a great detector, just a hair below the 360c. Honestly, if you don’t have a connected car the slight differences may not make it worth spending the extra $100 for the 360c (though you could still use the 360c’s wifi through a dedicated hotspot or cell phone, and most people have a hotspot capable cell phone anyways).
The last up is the Uniden R7. Much like the MAX360 and ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector, it’s a great detector, but for different reasons. Sensitivity wise it’s nothing short of incredible.
If I were to guess, I’d say it just edges out the Escort detectors,
BUT the Escort detectors really do give you so much range anyways that the Uniden’s gains don’t count for much real-world use.
I.e., with the Uniden, you might know about a speed trap a few seconds before one of the Escort detectors alerts.
but the Escort detectors already give you tons of time to slow down – so there’s very little real gain here even though I think the Uniden’s a bit more sensitive.
The mount isn’t all that bad, but I don’t find it quite as good/sticky as Escorts. I more frequently found my hardwired detector dangling with the Uniden’s mount than with Escort’s.
And that’s with the single-cup mount, the double cup mount is just plain trash;
I don’t know why Uniden even includes it. Plus the Uniden slides on with an audible “click” which may break over the long term (had it happen to other detectors in the past).
The arrows on this thing are super nice – not only does it display a huge arrow when it alerts, but it’s the screen is appropriately angled toward the driver (something the 360c totally missed out on).
Overall the ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector separated arrows are still way easier for me to discern out of the corner of my eye, but the R7’s a very close second.
Both Escort’s and Uniden’s screens are nice bright OLEDs (as is the MAX360 btw), I prefer Escort’s colors but that’s just me; may seem minor but little things count with every day use.
Now for the R7 negatives, I noticed. Auto-learn? It’s completely MIA. Yes, you can still manually mute falses, but Escort’s auto-learn is just so much easier to use (or rather not use, because it requires literally no interaction).
Maybe not a huge con if you don’t mind the initial setup with the R7, but I just prefer to be less involved and do less work (and the Escort has never ever failed me with its auto-learn, i.e., never once accidentally muted a real threat).
Connection and crowdsourcing are similarly absent from the Uniden, meaning Escort’s Live App is a huge advantage. The Live App already provides me a good deal of additional information in my area (a major city), and I only expect this to grow.
You could even use the App with no detector of your own just to get other’s alerts. Some Apps like Waze try to provide this information too, but I find the live app provides better and more up-to-date warnings.
If a cop’s using instant-on trying to catch you and happens not to target anyone ahead of you, the App may be the only thing that saves you if someone using the app flagged him earlier (which I’ve actually had happened).
The only thing I really consider the R7 to have over the 360c is the R7 claims to be Spectre I and IV undetectable. If you live in a ridiculously backwards state where radar detectors are actually illegal, this could be a selling point.
Escort’s only comparable product is the Redline EX, which is a great detector too…probably equals or exceeds the R7’s range,
BUT completely lacks arrows. So if you need an undetectable detector, consider the R7. Anyways, I don’t live near any of those particular areas, so I don’t care if my radar detector is detectable.
In summary, if you want the best overall detector ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector pretty much beats them all, if you can afford it, get it – you will not be disappointed.
And that’s really it’s only con – the total expense, but you’re getting a hell of a lot of value and features for your money (features available nowhere else).
Although I will say all of the detectors I mentioned above (with the exception of the vastly outdated V1) are superb.
Disclaimer: I don’t really speed, to be honest, but in a past life I may have when I was younger and now for some reason I feel naked without a good radar detector.
First Time radar Use
I just got my first speeding ticket in my new Camaro and the officer asked me where’s my radar detector? I was pointing my laser at you and yet you just kept speeding up.
Anyway, long story short I went shopping for radar the next day. I went to car toys authorized dealer and they wanted to charge $6000 to do a custom fabrication install.
It wa
s impressive, to say the least but way past my budget. They didn’t tell me about the wireless shifters that escort had though. So I got the 360c on black Friday bundled with the m1 camera. The radar saved my hide dozens of times already and I’ve had a close call with a pedestrian recently that I’m thankful to have recorded. They work well as far as I can tell and were very easy to integrate into my car. Although, it was a pain getting the magnet at just the right angle so the detector doesn’t fall loose with my tight suspension.

ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector Summary
Game Changer
Wi-Fi enabled, the MAX 360c is loaded with all-around 360° directional protection combined with patented filtering that automatically eliminates unwanted noise and rejects repeated false alerts. Optimize your journey with the most accurate ESCORT range
The ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector is their top-of-the-line model and my personal favorite. It offers long-range performance, some of the best false alert filtering in the business (thanks to Max’s more advanced digital platform), plus directional arrows to help you locate the threat which is extremely useful in practice.
GPS is built-in so that as you drive around, the ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector can learn the stationary false alerts around town from speed signs and drugstore door openers. As you drive around, it automatically learns those and begins filtering them out for you so it gets better the more you drive.
Escort also has a red light camera and speed camera alerts built-in and they update their database regularly.
The arrows on the front of the detector (hence the ‘360’ in the name) point front, side, or rear to indicate where the police officer is, letting you know when you’ve passed him, or if there’s a second officer up ahead after you passed the first one. This is very helpful.
The Max 360c is also a connected detector (hence the ‘c’ in the name) with both Bluetooth and WiFi built-in. It can connect to the cloud using your phone or a WiFi hotspot in your car to automatically share alerts with other drivers.
This way you get the benefit of knowing not only what your ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector sees, but also what all the other Escort drivers ahead of you see, giving you an additional layer of protection against more difficult instant on and laser threats.
As a bonus, when you’re connected to the cloud, Escort’s detectors can display the current speed limit on the screen right next to your current speed, making it easy to tell if you’re speeding and what the speed limit is.
It doesn’t take into account temporary speed limit drops for school zones or construction zones and the database only works for major roads, but it’s a very helpful feature to have.
If you have WiFi in your car or at home, the detector can automatically keep itself updated, downloading the latest software and RLC databases so you no longer have to plug the detector into your computer for updates. It takes care of everything for you automatically.
The ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector is Escort’s most feature-packed and well-rounded detector. If you’re looking for Escort’s ultimate windshield mount a radar detector, this is their top-of-the-line option.
Note: If you buy the ESCORT MAX 360c Radar Detector direct from Escort, they also offer a 1-year speeding ticket guarantee.
